Pictured here is an example of a project requiring multiple infrastructure sectors. The upcoming Rail Deck Park development in downtown Toronto. The Railway pictured at the bottom of the image is a main artery for international, national, regional and public transit systems, finishing at Toronto’s Union Station, which is the main station for these services, connecting to urban subways and buses. In the distance is the CN Tower and Rogers Centre, two of downtown's main entertainment attractions. The Rail Deck Park development plans to cover the railway picture here with an open public greenspace, maintaining the railway underneath concrete decks. This will require massive coordination between the cities transit authorities, construction teams, and well as water authorities, to service the greenspace of the park, and electrical authorities to power lighting systems and public entertainment spaces in the park. The railway separates the two large scale condominium developments that use the foot bridge pictured here to connect between the sides of the railway. Once the park is built, it will allow the residents of these condominiums to have a greenspace and public area that could ultimately create a sense of community in an otherwise stale, disconnected, high-density housing development.
