I live in the Netherlands, the dominant fossil fuels used are: Gas and Oil. The fossil fuels are mainly used for: industry 24%, transport 18% and residential 16%. The Netherlands already have a policy to make the energy supply more sustainable. But since the share of Solar/tide/wind still is very low of the total supply. I would create new policies in: industry: goal is to reduce the usage of oil and natural gas and shift more towards electricity and hydrogen gas. The last option will be stimulated by building more hydrogen factories in the port of Rotterdam. Pilot projects can start up by heating infrastructure for residential buildings from those hydrogen plants. I will also create policies to make the agricultural sector self-sufficient by creating opportunities for farmers to place a small wind turbine on their farm, alongside solar panels on the large barns. Although the agricultural sector only accounts for 6% of the energy consumption, it is a quick win to make this sector self-sufficient.
