This is a picture taken at one of the Housing complex, or 'DANCHI' in Japanese. Typical (around over 40 yrs since newly built) Typical Danchi consists of (and also what could be seen from the picture is): 1) more than few residential flats (here, 5 large size and 2 new size built in different time) 2) shops including supermarkets, pharmacies, nursery, pubs, etc 3) medical clinic for locals only (and a decent sized hospital right across the street) 4) management office 5) athletic fields, adjacent to the residential area 6) schools... to fit all the children living here 7) parking and biking spaces As written above, it is a small town where all your basic needs might be fulfilled within this area. Also, most of the Danchi-s are owned, maintained and managed by UR (an semipublic agency for national housing). What can not be found is how residents do act within 24hrs time frame, how the 'outside visitors' feel this place as a fit to the environment. Also, we are not certain whether people are fully satisfied with their living environment.
