This artificial island is the biggest maritime harbor in Shanghai, it is new and it is located in the south of the city, I took this picture when I visited last year. Shanghai has a constant movement of stock and flow, most important is finance but there are many others like cultural exchange, migration and import-export of goods. In the picture we can identified several stock and flows, first the products that are imported-exported as a flow, second the extra land (flow) that has been added between mountains (stock) in order to get more space, third the finance and economic situation for the trading market and the people that come here to work. As an international city, this stock and flow movement in this area can change in the future, specially for the people who live in the city, not only providing more products from abroad but also increasing the quality life and helping them to develop an international culture. Taking the cargo movement to this place will regenerate other areas that are now saturated, the old harbor areas near the center can become new areas of culture, knowledge and entertainment.
