The image shows the construction in SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City, Philippines. In our country, the predominant construction methodology is that of CHB and reinforced concrete, as these can be easily produced and sourced. But due to advancements in technology and construction, other non-locally sourced materials are also being used. In this case, a steel structural system is utilized to construct the complex egg-like form, that allows it to have larger spans that would otherwise be very difficult and inefficient to achieve using the conventional post-lintel concrete construction.
