This is Shanghai, the city where I live. This part of the city is the old town, next to Laoximen station. The visible information in this picture is the contrast between the old and the new buildings, also the quantity and the quality of mobility of the people that live there or spend time around that area. It is also very visible the lack of parking place for motorbikes and bicycles, practically they need to be parked on the sidewalk, forcing the people to walk on the streets. It is also visible the CCTV camera that are practically all over the city, in order to get a complete control of the movement of the people. This picture contain many invisible information, but to highlight two of them, I would say that most of the people that are in that picture was not even born in Shanghai, most of them are temporary workers from other provinces that are living in the old buildings. Other invisible information is the future of this area, soon it will be demolished and replaced for a new urban environment. This information could be very useful in order to design the city also for the temporary workers.
