Based on my own experience, the five most liveable cities are: Amsterdam, Munich, Auckland, Utrecht and Milan. Five key characteristics for a great city in my opinion are: amenities, good transportation system, unique character of the city (i.e. Amsterdam has very characteristic water canals, that give Amsterdam an unique appearance). Employement and housing opportunities. I live near Amsterdam. This city applies all five key elements I have listed above. Although the rising housing prices are becoming a problem for (talented) starters. The city council should address this problem, before talented people are not entering the town or before talented people, already living in the town, are considering leaving to other towns or areas. (like Utrecht, a nice city, half an hour from Amsterdam, with the public transport)
