1. In Germany, the dominating fossil fuels in use are oil, followed by gas, then coal. Most of the oil and gas are imported. 55% of the coal is from German mines, the rest is also imported. Only a small part of the then probably refined oil is exported. 2. The following demands of the fossil fuel have been listed in order of magnitude. Oil: Transport, Other, Non energy use, Industry Gas: Other, then Industry. A small part of gas is also converted into energy which is the used for Industry and Other Coal: Is nearly completely used in energy production in power plants. The energy from the plants powers: Other, then Industry 3. There are a lot of changes going on in Germany due to the nuclear exit announced by the government. This result is keeping the fossil plants up and running as a backup. Solar and wind power, already promoted by the government, should take a bigger share in the future. Also first electric cars and busses start to emerge on the streets. The key would be to reduce the oil consumption for transport in this car-friendly society by improving public transportation. The rail should be the biggest future alternative to cars and planes to reduce oil consumption. Individual car traffic should be more electrified. Also a growing use of green energy would reduce coal and gas burning in power plants. Attached is a hand drawn naive sketch of a sankey diagram of an electrified society mostly powered by renewable energy sources.
