Kyiv is situated on the Dnipro river, the main water artery in Ukraine. Obvious parts of infrastructure here are bridges and the river itself. Left bank of Dnipro is predominantly residential, while the city center and business districts are mainly on the right bank, so many commuters use the bridges every day, depending on their safety and traffic every day. Two metro lines also cross the river, transporting most commuters daily. Further development of transportation infrastructure is crucial to meet the demands of the growing city, and investments into new bridges and new metro lines would be welcome, however this seems unrealistic for the nearest future due to economic constraints. The river itself is crucial: it serves as a means of cargo and passenger transportation (mainly for touristic purposes, there is room for development of this touristic attraction), and a water reservoir in the vicinity of the city, and a source of energy. It is important to keep the river clean to ensure that it positively contributes to the health infrastructure as well.
