With lakes, historic palaces and architecture, is a major destination for tourists, both domestic and foreign nationals visiting the state. The major contributions to the city's economy comes from tourism. With reference to the image, it can be seen that city is dependent on infrastructure, transportation, water, and energy on urban form and architecture. The city, however, has been facing major issues which hinder its development. The absence of broad gauge connectivity to the city has been affecting both industrial as well as commercial growth. The infrastructure facilities like sewerage, drainage and solid waste management require improvement. The city is rich in heritage resources but lacks civic awareness on heritage and conservation aspects leading to a poor condition of the “Walled City”. The city administration has been working to overcome these challenges through technology partnerships with both the public and private sectors alike. To boost tourism, the city aims to enhance its potential with the creation of an Experience Udaipur mobile app which guides tourists across the city. New methods of technologies like smart dust bins and waste monitoring technologies have been considered.
