Question 1 Boston up to 15 degrees hotter in the city rather than nearby rural areas. Average is 1.3 degrees hotter in the city New York up to 20 degrees hotter in the city with a 2.7 degrees on average hotter in the city than rural areas. Question 2 Buffalo – 24.0 degrees hotter in the city than rural areas and 2.9 degrees hotter than in rural areas. Question 3 I would put more restrictions on city centre planning applications in on green and brown belt land. Additionally, I would apply more planning materials around testing from an architectural point of view. Furthermore I would create an initiative that was to educate populations on such issues. Question 4 Yes, changes are being made and policies/initatives being driven forward by both council, local government and universities.
