FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2020-04-07 by Vincent van Oostrom
This is an urban area in Mijdrecht, a small village near Amsterdam. What you see here are apartment blocks at the edge of the village, looking over a park with a lot of small meadows. In every block there are 14 apartments. Behind the apartments there are attached houses with a lot of living space for families. (approximately 190 - 225 square meters of space per house) Invisible information here for instance is the demography of the inhabitants. Are the apartments used by senior residents for whom they were designed for? Other invisible information is how the park is used. If the data about the usage of the park is mapped. The municipal government can take a solid decision about for instance using a little space of the park to build new houses, without compromising its usage and which space from the park could be best transformed into a urban area.
