SteveR - Racine, WI There is a main street that goes west and east through my city that ends up at Main Street and the historic area. I live in this historic area. My house was build in 1858 and is on the only brick street remaining in the city. The street that runs west and east has been under construction for over 2 years. I thought it was complete until last week when they started the construction again. I found out they are widening the street and putting in bike paths, but they never told anyone. This was a perfect project for CDS. Everyone that lives in this neighborhood has opinions. We all live close to that street and drive down it every day. They are taking parts of parts of people’s yards, the bike path is only on one side of the street, and there was no planning for snow removal and where people walk. I believe a CDS project would have looked at all the known issues, came up with multiple ideas and presented them to the planners and contractors. We understand how this neighborhood works.
