This is a former office building in Zoetermeer, transformed into 22 apartments. To make more outdoor space for the residents, to every apartment a balcony was added. The steel construction for it, was steel produced at Tata Steel in IJmuiden (the Netherlands). The wood used for the balcony floors is wood originated from Sweden. The fence is steel from Germany, but laser cut in a factory in the Netherlands. (The pattern it has, represents the lily leaf, used as the logo of Zoetermeer) I also looked at some materials used in the apartments. I discovered that the isolation materials came from a company (Knauf) from Germany. Also remarkable for the building construction industry in the Netherlands is that a lot of the labour force is coming from Germany, Poland and even other Eastern European countries. That is certainly also an example of the involvement of globalized economy in building construction. Yours sincereley, Vincent van Oostrom the Netherlands
