a. Provisioning services: Hong Kong has 17 reservoir with a total capacity of 586 million meter cube. b. Regulating services: Hong Kong suffer from typhoon every summer. In 2018 the world most powerful typhoon Mangkhut smashed through Hong Kong, causing 1,500 trees uprooted, and hundreds of windows smashed all over the city. This can be explained by having too many harbour side residential and commercial buildings. Many of these buildings use glass walls and were not durable enough when the typhoon hits. c. Habitat or Supporting services: Hong Kong is a very small and highly-developed city, but the topography and sub-tropical climate provide a wide range of habitats to support a rich variety of flora and fauna. There are over 2,100 species of native vascular plants, some 50 species of mammals; over 500 species of birds; about 80 species of reptiles and more than 20 amphibian species. The Mai Po Inner Deep Bay Ramsar Site and Hong kongWetland Park are two main sites to conserve the endangered spices. d. Cultural services: The average public space for each person in Hong Kong is only 2 sq meter. The city has been facing shortage of land for decades. (Fig: https://apps.wwf.org.hk/hotspot-map/)
