Is an inhabitant of a suburban area of las Palmas de Gran Canaria I suffer from the same problems that most of the suburban areas around the world. Isolation. Government here has focused its efforts on the construction of massive road infrastructures to connect a increasingly spreading urban system. This way the public alternatives for transportation are reduced to a really poor bus system. If my route by car could be 15 minutes choosing any route, taking the public transport could mean a 45 minutes ride, with at least 25 stops in a 7 km route. People around here don't trust the public transportation system because of the long rides and the constant delays. Since we don't have any other alternatives, we have single houses with 3 cars for people, moving everyday. Creating congestion on the roads and pollution in the environment.
