Tokyo has a very efficient mass transportation system, mainly composed of subway lines and trains. It shapes the whole metropolitan area as each station act like a mini city center with the main public public building and business around the metro; the more you walk away from it, the more residential the area is. Train lines take a lot of space, especially for such a dense area as Tokyo.
