RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS IN PANAMA CITY Panama is a small country with a great role in international trading, because of the Panama Canal. That is why there are construction materials from all over the world, from Europe, USA, Asia and South America, showing that this country is an important part of a global market. In this building, the sand and cement are local. Cement industries are owned by Cemex (Mexico) and Argo (Colombia), both global companies. Tiles and bathroom equipment are form USA, Europe and China. Paint usually comes from USA. Frames and aluminum´s stuffs come from South America and China. Concrete bricks are made locally, but Gypsum boards are imported from USA and China, and are usually used for finishing interiors. It is not easy for a small country to produce a large variety of construction materials, because of the local market size and production´s costs. It is better to think in regions or groups of close and similar countries when we talk about local materials.
