I live in Mumbai, India and the ecosystem services available here are: Provisioning services- Powai lake, located in northern Mumbai, is an artificial lake that collects rainwater during the 3 months of heavy monsoon received in the city. Even though this is an artificial ecosystem it provides water for the city, thus qualifying as a provisional service. b. Regulating services- The Sanjay Gandhi National Park, also located in Northern Mumbai, is a National Park rich in vegetation and biodiversity. The immense green cover in this area helps to regulate climate and temperature. Since it is a national park it is also home to a variety of birds and bats that help towards biological control. This can also be considered to be a cultural service because of the tourism that it provides. c. Habitat or Supporting services- Sewri Mangrove habitat, located in Eastern Mumbai, habitat for flamingoes, However, because of lack of government attention and some oil spills this area of high biodiversity is under threat. d. Cultural services- Island located off the coast of Mumbai, in the Arabian Sea, the Elephanta Caves are rock cut architecture caves and are one of the biggest tourism sites in Mumbai. They are also important religious and cultural spots.
