This is New York. An amazing vibrant and changing city, and possibly the epithet of energy consumption in human habitats. Virtually everything we look at, depends directly on energy. Electricity is a quintessential part of this city. In this picture we can see the astonishing amount of energy needed to make a city like that work. On the background we see the WTC, a skyscrapers' conglomerate, always working, always on, electricity for lightning, cooling or heating, elevators, computers. Then we have the streets of chinatown, Where every single shop has a neon sign. Lightning on the street and in apartments, air conditioning machines. And that is just the visible part. Then we could go further undergorund and find electrical networks, plumbing, and a massive underground transportation system. That picture need no explanation. It demonstrates our dependency on infrastructures
