The picture shows the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. The blue lagoon is artificial construct. It has been developed because the warm water is a by-product of the geothermal plant in the area. The water visible on the picture is a warm runoff from the power plant. Geothermal energy is rather clean source and thus the water is safe for bathing. The geothermal plant is located in a volcanic area, located fairly distant from the nearest city. The area cleverly used the discharged water to create a landmark for tourist, many of them not knowing that the whole spa area is compeltely artificial.
