This image shows the multitude of material sources that go into our homes in Canada. From the rooftop down. Roofing materials - global sourced. Aluminum soffits from Canada. Aluminum mined here. Wood walls sheathing and floors systems, from Canada, cross Canada sourced. Stucco Canadian sources, elastomeric compound in stucco source could be global as it is an oil product. Latex material source global. Pigment global. Vinyl windows stock frame extruded in Canada from global source for vinyl. Window glass and seals from China from what I have heard from suppliers. Steel column, Canadian steel from Canadian raw materials. Front door from United States. Stone cladding from United states quarry or manufacturer. Garage Door manufactured in Canada from local and global materials. Concrete porch and foundation from Canadian sources. Gypsum wallboard being delivered is from Canada but increasingly we are seeing gypsum board from China in Canada. Inside the home tiles, flooring, carpet globally sourced, insulation manufactured in Canada. In Canada, the majority of a home can be manufactured from local material. Unfortunately we are more unique than developing countries that do not have the methods, materials or technology to do the same.
