Jakarta's environmental problems are worsening due to various human factors such as habitat destruction, unregulated construction of settlements around rivers, poor waste disposal, pollution and illegal groundwater extraction, just to name a few. I propose to create a city app that allows the citizens of Jakarta to address and raise awareness of the city's "invisible" environmental issues and unsustainable practices using the monitoring tools the app provides. The issues can be monitored with the goal of having government authorities, local organisations and other concerned citizens collaborate in meaningful ways to take action for a better city.
