Why do we live where we live? I live in Shillong city in India. 1. Job opportunities -After my post-graduation from TU Delft I decided to come back to my hometown since there were job opportunities here. 2. Housing – I do not have to pay rent since I live with my family here in Shillong, so it is much more affordable for me to live here. 3. Safety – Since this is my hometown, I am more accustomed to the nooks and corners of the city hence I feel safer here because I know my neighbourhood very well as well as the local language. 4. Culture – The places I’ve lived in have always been full of beautiful architecture and busy city centers with a bustling life. These places of the cities show the grime of the urban experience and provide for a more pleasurable experience interacting with people in the local markets rather than the monotonous culture of the mall or supermarket. 5. Transportation & Infrastructure – Having these two together are one of the most important aspects of any city life.
