In this photo, you can see a simple wooden house, style of which is very popular in the French Alps. Nearly all of the houses in the Alps are built from wood, which the French have very easy access to due to a large forest surface area. The properties of wood; strong and provides good insulation, make it the most suitable material for housing in the mountains and other places that experience large temperature drops. This is a globalised material as it is a very easy to obtain all around the world , however, the process is very damaging to the environment; large CO2 emission, lack of O2, destruction of habitats and many more.
