Energy, people, water Munich, the capital of Bavaria, is home of a large number of industrial- and tech-companies. These require a large amount of energy, which has to be transported into the city and distributed there. Power stations on the outskirts of the city provide this energy, as do hydroelectric power stations in the surrounding area. The large number of resident companies naturally employ a large number of people, who often come from the surrounding area. In addition, many tourists also come to the city, because things like "Oktoberfest", "Marienplatz" and "HofbrÀuhaus" are world-famous. Both industry and the city's 1.6 million inhabitants need water. Either to supply drinking water or for production. The drinking water comes from the nearby "Mangfall" valley and is transported to the city. The industrial water comes mainly from the river "Isar", but is also obtained from water treatment plants and thus remains in the urban cycle. In the future, the systems for providing energy and water will become more efficient and above all more sustainable. This may lead to less environmental destruction, an increase in the quality of life in the city and possibly even more attractive for people.
