1. According to my opinion, the five most liveable cities are: 1)Melbourne, 2)Sydney, 3)Vienna, 4)Vancouver and 5)Amsterdam. 2. Characteristics that make a city liveable are: 1)Infrastructure, 2)Safety & conflict level (economic and political stability), 3)Social and cultural environment, 4)Access to education and healthcare, and 5)Environmental quality. 3. Considering the characteristics listed above, the city of Jakarta (where I live) can in many ways seek to improve its liveability for its inhabitants. First, with regards to infrastructure, Jakarta lacks quality public transport and housing. Second, the city has poor universal access to healthcare and education, where only a select few benefit from the services. Third, Jakarta is dealing with high amounts of pollution and rubbish. Thus, for the future, better government management and implementation are necessary to ensure Jakarta can reach its potential.
