Infrastructures such as transportation, water, health and energy provide a basis for better economic and living conditions, thus, its accessibility is fundamental for the future development of urban systems. Attached is a photo that was taken in Melbourne, Australia, where the dependency on infrastructure is evident in the building and urban scale. Urban electricity infrastructure can be seen in the form of power lines, street-lighting, electric-powered trams, communication lines, and surveillance cameras, while the visible building electricity infrastructure include lighting, elevators, cooling and heating -which can be found inside the high-rise towers in the background. Further, the photo shows urban transport infrastructure in the form of walkways/paths, streets/roads, tramway tracks, and building transport infrastructure such as elevators and stairs (in high-rise towers behind).
