I would first like to point out that this picture was not taken by me, but is licensed for noncommercial use. I was unable to obtain a decent picture of the area, though I did visit it in an attempt to do so. Here the dependence on infrastructure is shown to be high, for we have found a need to build a road through the narrow canyon in order to transport goods not only to those who live in the mountains but to those who live on the other side of the mountain range. Not pictured are the startling number of semitrucks carrying concrete, water, and foodstuffs that were seen traveling on both sides of the road. On a similar note, there are railroads that wind through the canyon in addition to the highway, now in the possession of the Union Pacific system and critical to the state's economic health.
