FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2019-08-24 by Grace Youhanna
This photo was taken of a nearby neighborhood in Bauchrieh, Mount Lebanon, Lebanon As visible information we can immediately draw attention to: The messy wires and cables on some tilted Electric poles which are placed dangerously right next to buildings and can be reached from balconies. The dull, unpainted, unfinished, old, deteriorated 3 to 5 stories building blocks. A boy with many empty water bottles is crossing the road, at the same time a car is driving in the middle of the two lanes road with unmarked parking lots and pedestrian crossing. The major two Invisible information that I can extract from this photo are: 1-The dangerous, chaotic and neglected infrastructure of this neighborhood. 2-The low-poverty neighborhood characteristics. Those information mentioned above serve as a reliable base to contribute to a better future planning of this neighborhood. In order to reach some security level and livability, some measures and actions need to be taken by the responsible municipality, by fixing and organizing its chaotic dangerous infrastructure and implementing road markings, parking lots and signs for cars and pedestrians, as well as providing some maintenance and reparation for those building blocks to make them more appealing.
