image-PRISM A CDS project doesn’t yet exist in Geneva, even though the city and the canton are frequently running surveys and votes on land use and citizen satisfaction. An open, easily accessible platform using volunteer-based crowd-sourcing input, would definitely improve many city aspects. A great example is www.prism-app.io lunched by the Mayor of London on the 12/07/19. It is an online platform that incorporates main spatial planning rules and structural limitations as a basis for personalized user input. Citizens are invited to virtually create a housing block unit, according to their personal preferences, while at the same time they get informed about the local constraints in terms of climate, zoning, and structural capacity. Interactive dashboards provide visual information on the cityscape through the years and can be complemented by user input data that keeps the open source platform continually growing. This feedback loop is guaranteed to improve London’s future housing quality and capacity, as the conclusions driven from an active individual design process can be implemented to Precision Manufactured Housing. That way, viable, time-efficient and affordable housing solutions can be determined, making the city of London more resilient and sustainable in the long run.
