In Singapore, the UHI effect can lead to a temperature difference of 7C at certain times in the day. The density of buildings and concrete surfaces leads to UHI effect. Some measures to mitigate UHI include roof top greenery. Another that I find interesting is designing the city to facilitate wind flow. Yes UHI is a key concern in our city which is why we have launched an initiative called Cooling Singapore to explore ways to mitigate UHI as a nation.
