Hail on the General Rumiñahui Highway This photo was taken in the afternoon on Friday, October 18, 2013 from my transportation of my work, when I was returning home. You can see ice on the parterre, scarce vehicular traffic on a six-lane highway, little housing use, a pedestrian bridge at the end, among others. The invisible thing in this moment of the photo, is the vehicle crash two kilometers behind caused by the little precaution when driving when hailing, the extensive vehicular traffic and bottling that this behind, the demographic growth and the urban expansion that is situated to the margins of the highway (for that reason the pedestrian bridge), the icy asphalt turned into a rink of vehicular skating, among others. This information, which is very daily, could help us to generate a proposal or response to the situation, when it is peak hours and cold weather, from different spheres. For the police perhaps it would be to exert a greater control of speed, for the urban design to equip with intelligent urban furniture that communicates the quantity of ice in the roadway or how slippery this one, also devices in the margins.
