Data show that urban areas in Beijing is 3-5 degree-Celsius warmer compared to Yanqing in summer. The result might be due to some factors. In urban areas: Less green and water space Areas are generally built up Land surface is typically paved with either concrete or asphalt In peri-urban or rural areas: There are more vegetation Less built-up areas Less surfaces covered with concrete or asphalt Which are the measures you would propose? I agree the propose of PKU about reducing the Intensity of Urban Heat Island in Beijing by wedge-shaped green land, and the simulation result shows that this plan can reduce the temperature in and around the greenland, and it can result in the wind velocity reduction in the downwind of the urban area. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? unfortunately no. I hope that the government can issue relative policies to control UHI effectively soon.
