The photo shows a snippet of the C5 (Circumferential Road 5) network in Quezon City. This is one of the major thoroughfares in Metro Manila, connecting the northern, western, and southern regions of the metro. Along with other circumferential and radial road networks such as ESDA (also called C4) in Metro Manila, these transportation systems very much define the urban form and landscape. The prices of property depends on the proximity of these networks. Other things such as heavy traffic - as Metro Manila is infamously known - affects almost every aspect of a citizen's life. On a biggerp picture, Metro Manila's road system influences economic growth, social, political and cultural movement, and environmental issues. The road system itself is an embodiment of the city and understanding it is crucial in urban planning and human habitation.
