The MRT in Jakarta has become a very efficient means of transportation for many people living and working in Jakarta. It is faster than the BRT and much cheaper than taking a taxi. Living near an MRT station is attractive for many people because of the convenience of a reliable public transportation. There is high likelihood of further development and construction of residential and office buildings near these areas, and possibly increase in land values. These factors will shape urban systems in these areas, and would impact on demand for energy, water, and other services. In the long-term, this could also alter the habits and interactions of people working and living in Jakarta.
