This is the garden area in our apartment building in the CBD Provisioning services - We have fruit trees and a very productive passionfruit vine along the bottom edge of the photo, and the circular gardens contain herbs - these are used regularly by building residents Regulating services - the canopy provided by the larger trees keeps the area cooler (it is very hot in summer), and reduces direct exposure over the pool and the tiled area. Residents regularly take shelter under a tree to read. Being a coastal area there are often higher winds, and the trees help calm this Habitat or Supporting services - the trees planted are predominantly native to the area and flower and fruit at different times of the year. This has been a strong attractant for pollenators like bees as well as birds, lizards and even possums. The surrounding areas of the city are mostly buildings and exposed concrete... so it is a refuge for local wildlife Cultural services - being a pool area it is a natural gathering point, but residents are frequently drawn more into the garden area to enjoy the plants and animals, or just to relax in the shade
