On a recent visit to Buenos Aires I noticed a city with amazing infrastructure. Along with trains for longer city trips, there was an underground and an extensive bus system. What interested me most was the pedestrian and personal vehicular traffic. The area photographed was the business district during the day: bike and scooter couriers were prevalent, possibly indicating that the city was ripe for short to medium trips and the and the close proximity of interacting working communities. The lane ways were also full of pedestrians. Due to the reduced width, one way traffic and special lanes for cycling, the vehicular traffic was slow and privileged the pedestrian. As a measure of urban function and lifestyle I felt the activity in these areas, and the ease with which it worked, indicated the system was functioning well and provided for an interesting and dynamic streets.
