Uploaded on 2019-07-28 by Zhu Ling
The photo was taken at The Ritan Park, Beijing, China, around 7:30am of 30th Jun 2019. As you can see, the pavilion is the high point with a panoramic view of the park. Below the pavilion is a pond with rockies and lots of lotus. Retired old people were meeting and talking in the pavilion; Young people were running or taking photos in front of the pond; Disabled people were taken by their family to enjoy the sun. The first invisible information is the tradition of saving energy and money of Chinese old people. It’s about 34 degree in Beijing. The traditional older would like to stay in park to keep cool than consume energy at home. The second invisible thing is the lack of enough chairs in the park. People were standing in front the pond or sitting on the rockies. If architecture is smart and sustainable, people won’t worry about consuming energy. If there are more chairs around the pond, after running they could sit down for resting and watching lotus for a while. In conclusion, the invisible information, could make us understand our cities better and influence the design process to realize a sustainable, livable and smart.
