The most livable cities to me are as follows: 1. Zurich 2. Stockholm 3. Copenhagen 4. Vancouver 5. Vienna The most important factors that determine the livability of a city are: 1. Safety and Security 2. Infrastructure such as health, education, transportation, water and electricity. 3. Environmental friendliness 4. Legibility and mobility 5. Culture The city in which I live in is Addis Ababa. Safety and security issues can be stressing in some parts of the city and it is not safe to leave your car unlocked or unattended. There is lack of infrastructure in all sectors. It is not that environmentally friendly and has inadequate number of open public spaces such as parks and plazas. Newer buildings are relatively not legible and mobility is a critical issue. There is a rich culture but it is being used for granted. For the betterment of the livability of the city, all levels of planning and design from city planning to a single building’s architecture should make the public and environment at its core center.
