The above picture depicts an almost finished 64 storey structure and an ongoing construction of a similar building. I was privileged enough to carry out the ongoing site operations as a Site engineer intern and i witnessed a formidable trend encompassing globalized construction techniques used on site . Inclusive of Re-inforcements, shuttering , concreting , finishing , facades , foundations etc each process showed interactions with the construction system adhered to across the globe. Sustainability , however , is the biggest issue as the standard techniques have a negative impact on carbon footprint and it leads to exhaustion of available resource. It's important that future architects and developers of big housing or commercial buildings focus more on a sustainable way of building. In over 90% of all construction sites only the traditional building-materials like reinforced concrete and imported goods are used, no matter if there is a local or more resilient option or not. The use of alternative building materials can add a positive image to projects and help generating a better profit, as well as helping to create a more sustainable world.
