FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 3: "Factors of Livability"

My five most liveable cities are (in order from best to worse): 1- Savannah, GA 2- Charleston, SC 3- Saint Augustine, FL 4- Beaufort, SC 5- New Orleans. LA For myself, the downtown district has to be attractively inclusive of native trees, with a variety of transportation options, waterfront drives, green initiatives, diverse/desegregated/social justice, and a visible historic district. These are the qualities that I find in a great city. For the status of my own city, we do okay in terms of beautiful physical architecture and transportation. We have water ways and beautiful ponds and lakes all throughout the city. We have incorporated green initiatives such as solar power and bike lanes. Where we fail on my list is in the area of social justice and desegregation. Like most southern cities in the US, blacks and whites do not live in the same areas of the city and remain segregated. The school district is segregated. There is a civil rights law suit active now. Maybe that's what it will take to transform in relation to other more sustainable communities in terms of diversity.
