FC-01x Future Cities (Self-Paced) - Exercise 2: "Stocks and Flows"
Uploaded on 2019-07-19 by Latesia Coleman
The most important stocks and flows entering, staying in, and eventually leaving my city are; tourists, snowbirds (seasonal home owners from up north), various species of birds and insects, and boats. I live in Florida along the coast in a beach town so we have very popular beaches and beautiful weather all year. This brings in a huge tourist industry throughout the year. Along with tourists, there are a large number of residences that are owned as second homes and only resided in for half of the year. During the cold months. While during the warmer months these residents travel back home and stay up north in the Boston area. Another thing is to look at nature at our ecology that brings in species of birds during winter months. They travel down south seeking warm climates as part of their migration pattern. We have many insects like mosquitoes who disappear during the winter and have peak months during the late summer. Imagining how these stocks and flows might change in the future I think that with climate changes and rising sea levels we will loose some beaches in the future. The tourists will no longer be a major stock.
