This picture is an aerial view of the Moscow agglomeration. In this picture we can clearly observe that electricity infrastructure and road networks are crucial when it comes to urban planning and design. Moscow city is organized in circles, which is clearly exemplified here and joined by networks of road, extending from the centre of the main circle (the city centre). Electrification is needed to light up the city day and night and we can see the numerous lights in this photo. Transport infrastructure as mentioned earlier is important to consider when indulging in urban design. Moscow city was not planned but rather expanded from its original size and structure, as the Kremlin had a circular structure, which in turn influenced the circular pattern seen here. Due to the lack of planning and modeling Moscow now struggles from traffic jams as the existing road networks are unable to cope with increasing population and the urban sprawl. PLanning and modeling in needed to avoid such consequences and guarantee a sustainable growth.
