Colombia and specially Bogota is a place where concrete, steel and bricks are the main materials of construction. Actually our city has the nickname of the bricks and concrete city and its because is the only way we know how to construct, workers just know how to manipulate this kind of materials. There are so many ways to construct, and to be more friendly with the enviroment. There are other places in my country where bamboo is used. Simon Velez is a famous Colombian architect who desginf and construct all his projects out of bamboo. He is an example of how day by day we can be more sustainable.
