DashilaStreet in Beijing The government and stakeholder tried to make the area a place for events called International Design Week. But residents strongly disagree with the policy and refused to move out from the area as well as the new inserted functions. The office had to introduce sociological scholars form Tsinghua University to clarify the causes and the effects of the phenomena. In the investigation, residents highly expected on the amount of refunding form the government, because the government provided high refunding for nearby areas several years ago, but the same amount of refunding seems not so much due to inflation. So the residents refuse to accept the refunding. And they felt that the new functions and events were beneficial for others and had little relation with them. Even the government remove the old buildings and residents there, as the place had been a place for out-comers who has little savings, the welfare of these residents is hard to preserve because they are not the landowners, they are just the renters.
