This building is a typical example of wooden architecture in Kazan, or to be precised, previously wooden. Currently, the house belongs to the owner who has decided to strengthen the bearing function of walls, since wooden logs are sort of prestigious material here because surrounding forests are getting rather poor. Hense, switching to concrete seems more profitable. The same tendency could be observed in the whole city, where only "the most precious and historically meanings" wooden buildings are preserved as they were firstly built. Wooden architecture in Kazan would be soon only left on some dissertation works of architecture students.
