Two inivisble information that can be gathered here are pedestrian circulation/traffic pattern and different points/areas of attraction catchments. This is a central plaza inside an underground mall (Coex Mall) in Seoul Korea. The space appears to be designed as a special public amenity space ie. library/reading/resting area but ultimately its primary function is to be provide an intersection point for the visitors. By looking at the circulation/ traffic pattern through out the day AM - PM paying particular attention to peak and off peak hours, it will inform how to design the space to ensure it creates a smooth and efficient pass-through experience. The picture was taking around noon where most of the visitors were either taking a lunch break and heading to one of the many restaurants in the mall or looking to take a short break to use the library function. You can see 70-80 percent of the seating areas are occupied and the circulation areas are comfortably densified. We can also infer that in the morning or evening when people are moving to-and-fro work/home, the seating area will be mostly unoccupied and the circulation paths will be much more densified and quickly moving.
