I live in RegiĆ£o Metropolitana da Baixada Santista (RMBS - Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista), in Santos, the central city of this region. In Santos, the territory has changed over in many ways the years due to the Port. The chanel where ships come throught to get to the port is often suffered dredging, which changes the depth of it - it risks the environmental balance and the safety of civilians. There's a concrete deck along the coast, and it risks environmental balance as well, for it takes place where there were mangroves before. Santos receives many people from other cities everyday that come to work or study, due to the large number of companies and universities. During summer, the city also receives many tourists, creating even more flow. Santos is the city with the largest number of universities in the region, because of that, it has many libraries and reserches laboratories. All of that could change for better by decentralizing companies and universities, making it easier for people in other cities to work and study, and by having a stronger environmental inspection specially on the port.
