Ecosystem services in my living area: I live in Resende, a small city in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In my city there is a river called Paraiba do Sul, and this river provides water and food to the local area (provisioning services). Close by the First National Park of Brazil, created in 1937, The Itatiaia National Park. This park is a Conservation Unit and hepls regulating the region climate and air quality, sequestrating and storing CO2 and preventing erosion in the area (regulating services). The park is home to approximately 5,000 insect species, 384 birds and 50 mammals, as well as numerous reptiles and amphibians, many of which are endemic or endangered, such as the flamenguinho toad (Melanophryniscus moreirae), the brown owl (Puma concolor), the monkey muriqui (Brachyteles hypoxanthus), among others What ecosystem services do you have in and around your living area? (habitat) The park is open for visitation and it has several attractions like the Peak of the Agulhas Negras, Massif of the Shelves, Valley of the Aiuruóca and the Stone of the Altar.
